Anytime a needle is administered into the skin, there is a risk of bleeding and bruising. That’s why I recommend scheduling any treatment at least a month prior to any special occasion. I then plan a 2 week follow up after your initial treatment which allows swelling or bruising to resolve, filler to integrate, and your anti-wrinkle injections to start working. At your follow up we can decide if you require a touch up, then you have a full 2 weeks or more before your big event..

I am aware of the underlying anatomy and try to help you not bruise. I also use methods like cold compresses and blunt tip micro cannulas when appropriate to support that however there are things you can do at home to help reduce the risks even further!

Avoid non essential blood thinners 5-7 days prior to your appointment including:

  • Aspirin
  • Omega fatty acids including fatty fishes and nuts
  • NSAIDS such as Ibuprofen
  • Vitamin E
  • Alcohol (especially red wine)
  • Herbal supplements

Consider taking a preventative course of Arnica or Bromelain. Arnica is an inexpensive homeopathic supplement and Bromelain is an anti-inflammatory enzyme found in pineapple. Both Arnica and Bromelain are over the counter and best used 3-5 days prior to and after treatment.

Contact me if you have any questions before your appointment and we can discuss any further measures we can put into place.
